From 2008

I was reading old posts from this blog and came across one that really is me…I don't remember writing any of it, but do still to this day think the same way. I come across a carpet or tile that has a cool pattern and think in terms of what I could make.  I see TV shows and some sweater or hat that I like, or a knit pattern I would like to turn into a crochet pattern (not that I ever have!).

See!
Now I know why I get so little finished….I am in a constant dreamer!

On Sunday I was listening to the sermon and heard the pastor say that when he looks at life around him he sees things from the perspective of a sermon happening right in front of him.  He wondered allowed if an mechanic saw things in terms of taking things apart and fixing them, or if a CPA saw life in terms of how to handle money.

That got me to thinking on how I see life now - in patterns.  I see checkers and visualize how to hook up the two colors.  I see beautiful knit sweaters and think which stitches I could use to duplicate the look, and what yarn I could use to give it as nice a drape as the knit (that's always the big question).   Often I will browse the clothing racks and see a blouse or a skirt or a pair of pants and see what could be a possible crochet project.  It is all so fascinating - so much yarn, so many patterns, so little time left.

I see life in colors, too - I see how colors play out in nature, with various greens matched to other floral colors, or how the ocean is covered with the many hues of green and blue.  I love to work with bold colors, but seldom do so as I found I fear in making a mistake!  So I am now pushing myself to pair bold, striking colors in my projects.

I see possibilities in so may forms - something that would look cute made up as a doggie coat.  Something that would make a neat vest pattern, or squares for an afghan.

Ghostie is about 1/2 finished!

I lost the other photo in the process of uploading. Google has really done some weird things when they changed the Blogger publishing part.  It seems to have a mind of it's own.

I take photos of cattle and other interesting animals or places when watching TV. Silly, I suppose, but have some lovely cattle photos that I am making into portraits for the house! LOL! My sweet DSD Heidi even had one that I posted on FB made into one of my canvas wall portraits!

I just fine their faces so sweet and gentle. I wish we didn't have them brought up solely to use as food. Seems so barbaric once you know how sweet and intelligent they are.

Tommy Socks rarely gets his day in the sun on-line.  He is watching me with one eye open to make sure I don't do anything funny.

These are photos of my husbands fathers saddle. No one in the family wanted it so I gave it to a friend in AZ. He had it cleaned up a bit and is going to get it appraised.  I don't think it is worth much as there are a lot of them around from that era. Maybe in 50 more years!  My husband built the saddle holder.

Hopefully people are out of the heat and floods now, and all is well!
Blessings!

Just a little further along

This doesn't show too much…I actually have a few more rows finished, but not photo. You can see how the tail of the ghost is starting to turn.

This is Ginger. She is the 2 1/2 year old Lab/Mastiff mix. She always looks worried until she starts jumping on her brothers or her sister, and her whole body wiggles back and forth with delight!

This morning we had a lovely sunrise…the clouds all had a pretty pink coloration.

This is going to my niece Jennifer. I did not make it. Donna from Donna's Crochet Shoppe made it. Her work is so beautiful.

I took a photo of one of my cosmos flowers that is now taller than I am at 5' 5".  The dog is, again, Ginger, the long legged wench!

I hope to have some better photos of the doily tomorrow. I need to take my car in for an oil change, but that is all. Seems I can only do one major thing a day, and not more than 3 a week! LOL! Old age!!

Starting a doily

 GHOST'S

Boo! is the name of the pattern….and it is super cute.

We are doing an 'along' in my group on Ravelry.  "Any Ol' Little Thing Along" is the name, and it is so we can just choose what we want.  More or less getting ready for Christmas for some, donations to charities for others. Just a nice little place to chat and show off what we are doing.  I get most of my ideas from the other ladies in the group, as in this pattern.

My small beginnings….

I'm actually further along than this….am making it for my DSD as the whole family celebrates Halloween each year with a party for the families of their friends….kids and adults alike.

I may make another one for my niece in Boston if I have time. I think they celebrate Halloween, too.

Cute, right???

She has several patterns. This one is a free download, and I think the others might be, too…am not sure. Check her out, and come join us on the group along!
