 EAR WARMERS

My sister-in-law doesn't wear beanies, just ear warmers. I have made a few that are duds and a couple that are okay.  I ran across these that seem to be PERFECT! This is the link if the one I tried to link doesn't work. Sometimes google doesn't cooperate. https://remingtonlane.com/st-peregrine-ear-warmer/I am downloading the pattern to see just how many I can make her…maybe one for my niece, too!

Here is the pattern on Ravelry. Just to clarify, it is all one pattern…with different ways to close it up from what I can see. Maybe not. Super cute!

UNFORTUNATELY…

No photo to share on the beanie I did make. I did hear that it was a tiny bit too small for her, so will try my hand at making another one. Larger.

LOST MY MOJO AGAIN!

Anyone know where I can find it?  I was supposed to be making a different beanie for a friends daughter, but she hasn't answered my request to know what size. She is an adult, but a tiny thing.

Tommy Socks

I think that the cat having diabetes and not doing so well has me depressed, and I just don't seem to want to work at anything. Of course, my back hurting, my hip hurting, and my calves and feet hurting doesn't help! LOL! At least I can still walk, get up and move around, and am working on taking off the weight that aggravates all those issues.

His tummy is the light color….don't know why it shows all the way up his side. Must be the light.
……...
I might try working on a scarf for me to perk me up a little. Need something different with green anyway.

💖

Hope all is well with you and yours! Don't for St. Patrick's Day!

Finished Eva's Beanie - sans photo!

 I goofed!

I forgot to take a photo.  I was waiting for a measurement from the mom, but alas it didn't make it. So I went ahead and sent it on. Hopefully it will fit ONE of the three girls even if not the intended recipient. It's super cute, so if I get a picture of the beanie I'll post it.

She's gone

My sweet sister-in-law passed away on Thursday of last week. VERY unexpected. The only saving grace is that she passed away in her sleep peacefully. Other than that we are all miserable, none more so than my brother. He seems to be coping well enough, but I know from experience how hard it can be…day after lonely day.

She was a cancer survivor…over 20 years. They believe she had a heart attack, no cancer involved.

1992

Before she and my brother were married. Mom and I went with the two of them to San Francisco. I flew in from Atlanta. I honestly don't remember that part at all…if I flew up to SF, or if I flew into San Diego and drove up to where they were going to be married. NO recollection.

PUZZLE

I worked on a small puzzle that my sweet daughter-in-law gave me one year. Good for a quick "get-away" when needed!

TOMMY SOCK'S HOME SWEET HOME!

I know I over do his room, but I feel so very guilty that I can't/don't spend as much time with him as I should. The dogs are draining! When you walk into the room you can see his love seat and various "jungle gym" type goodies.  To the right is his feeding station, and to the right again is the large closet. Unused basically…..for now!

I hate that he has to be all alone in his own quarters. My border collie Maggie wanted to kill him, so had to keep him away from her in the beginning. Then Brodie learned from her, and the other dogs from him. So to keep him safe he has his own bit of heaven. Having been feral I think for the most part he is okay with it, although I know he would prefer more time with me.

Case in point as far as being okay with it, when he is tired of my company he will get up and leave,  going outside!

He has a view of the backyard and can watch the dogs run around.

This is his yard.  The tree has grown quite a bit! I didn't realize that until seeing this photo. You can see him in the shade. He has even worn a little path like the dogs do! Didn't realize cats do that.  He has a cat door from his room into the yard and a child's table and chair as well as tiny umbrella. He has been in the chairs a couple of times and hides under the table one in a blue moon.

At the home in ID where I rescued him I had an old storage unit converted to his house, with a real observatory on top so he could look out without having to expose himself to the coyotes.

Then in OR he has his own house where I gave the hot tub to my kids and he got the building! He had a nice yard and stayed inside…even  had a patio. Then one day he started jumping the fence, getting on the roof, and also wandering the street at night. I started locking him in the little house until we moved to WA. He gave up his outdoor privileges!

In AZ, when we wintered there, I had a small area where he could get outside, but it wasn't ideal. TOOOO small. So was his room.

In WA I gave him the converted two car garage and had a small area fenced for him in the yard. Again, not ideal. He did have a huge inside room, though, and enjoyed lots of hiding places.

So when we moved here to TX I wanted him to have a large yard. Had the fenced moved up toward the front of the house (you can see the two sides) and then put one across the other side cutting off a piece from the backyard.  Put a hot wire around the bottom which has kept him inside the yard. Unplugged in last year and he is still staying away from the fence! I should plug it in again just in case he gets an idea he wants to try roaming.

I also have hung some different lights so when he goes out there at night he can see well (is blind in one eye).

In Idaho…finished product!

He had a cat door so I could close him in during the nights.

Below is in Oregon. His little house was to the right…mine to the left!
He would side on the pottery to be taller and look through the fence. The dogs (who wanted to eat him) were on the other side of the fence.

So much for crocheting

Sorry for the LONG post!

Re-do on the Beanie

NEXT  FUN  BEANIE  FOR EVA….AGAIN!!

Eva’s beanie, with an Apple pencil showing how large it is…or isn’t!  It is certainly looking better, and will, hopefully, actually fit her.

HARD WEEK FOR TWO OF US

I found out my cat has diabetes. I have been working on his health for two weeks, no to mention my own…bum hip!  Tommy Socks received his insulin and I received a cortisone shot. We are both, finally, doing better.

Thus the slow progress.

Tommy Socks when he was feeling pretty awful. The insulin did the trick in just an hour or less. I suggest if you have a cat you watch what he or she eats (the most protein I have found is in the Senior 7+ at 13%, and has the lowest carbs. Good thing for cats PRIOR to getting diabetes). Cheaper than the food they call prescription, which is basically a farce. Lots of cat food is perfectly find for diabetic cats as long as you feed them right. Mine is 13 years old, so lived a long life without getting it. My bad was feeding him too many treats because I felt so bad not being able to spend as much time with him as either of us would like.

A SCARF FOR ME?

I’m was thinking of making myself a scarf out of my Malabrigo Arroyo, but the temperature has already taken a head long dive into Spring/Summer.  I may go ahead and make it just to have it ready in case it stays cold at night.  I have noticed the dogs are staying outside more and more. It hasn’t been super humid, and the temperatures are in the 60’s during the day. That was a warm temp when I lived in Washington state! Cool here.

WYNN  BEANIE

I am thinking of trying my hand at making the Wynn beanie. There is a lot of slip stitching so don’t know if my carpal tunnel can stand it. However, worth a try as it is so cute! I’m not exactly tired of making the other pattern, but felt I should at least try another one.

I might change up the brim/border/whatever to make it smaller. I think she used her and slip stitching or sc. I haven’t checked the pattern out throughly yet. The link above is to Ravelry.

Have a great day!
