An excellent and lovely afghan pattern

I am starting an afghan pattern for a new niece/nephew that is due in June of 2015.  As they are not going to find out which gender, I am making an afghan for either.  Using Waverly yarns since they are discontinued.  I might as well use up what I have here.

So far in a minty green and a silvery medium blue.  I have a pink, a white, and a yellow.  Will see if I can add a darker hue of each color, too, like the one below…or not!  Am not exactly sure as to how the placement of colors will be, but as I have lots of time to work on this, it will be fun to figure it out as I go along.

This is the Twilight Shells Throw #LW4502 below.

This is the Twilight Shells Throw in another pattern on Red Heart. It's a little different.

It is a simple shell stitch and works up into something quite lovely!  The color choices and placements are endless!!  This also works very well with the air-crochet when you change colors.  Spectacular!

The pattern is free so give it a try!

  1. Our neighbors are expecting #3 in the spring.

On #1 they didn't know the sex so I used primary colors for the afghan . . they had a boy so it worked.

#2 was Bridget, until she was born . . . Aiden now has an afghan made from Deorah Norbille variegated . . . works for a boy even though it was made for a girl.

Both #1 and #2 afghans look so good together tht I am wondering what to do for #3.

I am thinking a ripple in Deborah Norville's variegated again. The colors will go along with the other two, yet the ripples will be different. (#1 was a Babette where #3 was straight grannies.)

Now, to get Christmas crocheting over so I can start on the unknown #3.

  2. Gracious me....this is one stunning afghan. I'm off to see if it's still listed somewhere for free. I'm not a newbie beginner but don't consider myself very advanced. Would you consider this pattern easy enough for a somewhat beginner to follow? I'm drooling over this one. Have you started it yet?
Thank you so much for sharing the name and letting us know it's a free pattern. Hope I can find it.

    1. I posted a link to the web site for the free pattern. It is the line by itself that says Twilight Shells Throw with the number. The one like it but different is the link under that. Good luck!
