For Rikki
This is a design by Michele DuNaier, who is on Ravelry. Her group name is MAD Cap Fans. This particular design, called Patty Cake Cardi, is a free download from Knit Picks.
I finished it with a tie on the front. I loathe putting on buttons although it might look curter that way. The recipient should have it by now, but haven't heard a word. Hope she (the mom) likes it. The yarns are TLC Amore for the multi edging and the pink body, & the white is Lion Brand Cupcake in the skein, not a cake. I don't think they sell the exact same one any longer…it is curly.
For Zoe
This is for my nieces other granddaughter, Zoe. She is three so am having to make something larger. Unfortunately, I didn't look into Michele's designs. This one is from Bernat, and theirs is made in Mosaic. It's a pinafore, and I am making it in Mandala DK. I can make it a little long so she can wear it for a couple of years to come….if she and mom like it, that is. It isn't a summer dress for sure, but maybe in the cooler evenings. We hit the 100's here and mostly the 90's but not humid. People laugh at that, but if it isn't 100 and you are in the shade with a slight breeze it can really feel cool to cold should you not have sleeves….humidity runs about 25% if I remember correctly. Winters are different, though.
Rhubarb!!
I have two rhubarb plants…well more than that as I discovered some little ones below the big leaves. Not pickable, though. I did pick enough for a pie, and actually made it! Then let my girlfriend have some, and then picked some more. Neither plant is picked by 1/3 so all is well. I think that next week will be the last time we will be able to pick from it as it will be in the 80's and get a little hotter after that.
I haven't made a pie in years! Years, I say! This was so very good. Like G'ma Oliver used to make. No strawberries or raspberries. Just plenty of rhubarb and sugar and flour. Yum! Very filling, too.
