Eva Re-do

 

So now instead of 13 inches wide I am about 7" now (larger than this).

The photo is dark…below is the right color:

I was on the down side of finishing and realized the hat was HUGE!  I feared frogging it as it isn't a real yarn….its fuzzy attached to thread! How, I don't know.  At any rate, it came apart just fine.

I hope that this new try will fit her. It doesn't have the give that a hat made with a regular yarn would, although it has some. I think a clip of some sort might be helpful.

 MORE BEANIES - FOR GUS & EVA

Eva seems to like the chenille hat…it’s a bit hard to crochet, but I am getting the hang of it.

ETA: photo of color which looks right! I had a hard time getting the right color taking a photo with the iPhone. This one is perfect!!

No Pom for Gus…just a nice sort of plain boy type beanie.

I’m still working on the one for Eva. Hopefully I will get it finished by her birthday, but doubtful. Close thought!!

Another Beanie Born!

 Beanie For Jack

I finished the green beanie for my great nephew, and got his stamp of approval. I plan to mail his out tomorrow along with his sister's, one to Jen, and some other goodies for a friend. I don't like making multiple trips to the P.O. so I can stay away from more people that way.

N95 Masks

I received my N95 masks….I'm not all that thrilled with them, but at least they protect me.  They just seem like they are way toooooo small. So tight…plus  they go around the head rather than one for each ear. I find they give me a headache.

Amarylis 

My Christmas gift has been blooming like crazy!  Three stalk son one bulb and two on the other. I had no clue they ever had more than one stalk. Each one has four flowers. So blessed!

Fruit and cheese basket

My daughter-in-law and son (DSS) gave me a fruit and cheese basket for Valentines. I told them not to send candy ever again! I'm obese and fear I could be on the verge of being diabetic. My meds make me hungry, so dieting is very hard. Fruit I can do, and especially this group since I love cheese with pears and apples!

Valentines Tree

And this is my Valentines tree this year! I put more on there but didn't photograph the last installment. I kind of think I should have left the peppermint on there from Christmas. The first week of March I will start working on the St. Patrick's Day tree!

Charity

Someone gave the me idea of donating shawls and lapghans to a local nursing home (wish they would find another name for that type of place). Unfortunately, they won't take them this year.

I remember when I was in junior high school I volunteered to go to a nursing home (old age home back then) to visit with the people there. It was state run and the most miserable place ever. They took them out of their rooms and parked them by their door in the hallway and left them there sitting in their wet diapers. The whole place stank. What a miserable way to spend the last days of your life. 

I hope such places do not exist any longer - not like that. I suppose it takes family, friends, and local volunteers to make sure that people are treated with the utmost care and respect.

Glorious Beanies!

 New Beanie 

After the fiasco of the black beanie, I was too disappointed about it. Decided to make my niece another one.  In grey this time as black is way to hard to use. Then I made her sister one in red.

Backcountry Beanie

I love this pattern, and after you have made a few you can figure out. How to change it up just a tad so the beanie looks a bit different.

I made one that was in a hot pink, with the brim in another pink color. Gave it to a friend in Sequim when I lived there.  So the next one I am going to make for my nephew Jack in his favorite color…green. Only, like the pink beanie I will use two greens. Hopefully he will like it.

I already made a smaller beanie for his sister Zoe…in a beautiful ocean color. I hope she likes it. I know even though I used the right sizing it will be big on her, but she will be able to wear it, and then wear it next year, too!

PUZZLES

I love jigsaw puzzles, but only certain kinds normally.  My daughter-in-law and step-son have expanded my horizons.  First she sent me some cute little puzzles that were of food items, and then a puzzle that was a bit psychedelic for me!  I did manage to put it together even though I didn’t find a photo to use to see the finished product. Well, my boy decided to send me a puzzle that was really different and not all that easy. It was called something like Magic Puzzle. Several of the homes had the same roof, some has the same windows, nearly all had the same door, etc., etc., etc.  BUT there was always some tiny thing that made it different. 

In the end you take apart the puzzle to add to it. The whole that was pretty cool!!!  I think they sell them in threes and they are just about to sell the next set. Am almost willing to purchase the three to try the next in the series! Maybe he will send me another one instead!
