Comfortghans family:

Comfortghan - FARM TO TABLE SWAP

This is the swap afghan from the swap on Ravelry in the Vanna's Choice group. I didn't make but one of the squares, but bordered them all twice and then joined them. I'm getting ready to border the whole of it and then after weaving in the NUMEROUS ends, I will send it off.

After:

AND NOW….bordering

It's all joined and once I get it bordered more the sides I'll post another photo. I have chosen one of the Edie Eckman borders and will complete it in the Charcoal, Linen and Toffee. I wanted it to have a more manly look to it. The colors are all a tad darker than the photos.

I was lucky in that after the last several/many years the tags did not come off.

DOGS & ALLERGIES

I have three dogs now, after losing Brodie. All four had a dry itchy skin that I figured was their not having enough baths. Recently I decided to try something…eliminating peas and wheat. Not that easy to do consider most dog foods use peas for the 'protein' in their formula.

I finally found a dry dog food called Wholesomes for Sensitive Skin and Stomach. They loved it! I had tried a Diamond product but all four (at the time) would eventually not eat it. This Wholesomes Salmon dry dog food was great. I forgot about treats. I always gave them Milk Bone as it is made in the USA, as is the dog kibble I started. However, it has wheat, so in looking around finally came upon one by Blue Buffalo what has neither.

They really liked them (I break them apart to smaller pieces) but their skin was still flaking. THEN I looked at the Pill Pockets…wheat! Dang! So stopped them this week and guess whaT!

…..NO FLAKING SKIN!!!…..

They all look better and feel better. I am certain it is the wheat, and don't know about the peas, but that's okay. We are find as we are now…wheat-less and pea-less and flake-less!

Aryanna's Comfortghan

I have finished one more panel and will be starting another one tomorrow. This is my last photo.

In the meanwhile
…. to take it easy over the weekend, I crocheted a hotpad for my niece and put the top on my new kitchen island. Bought the island from DutchCrafters but am so so so disappointed in it. I just bought from the wrong Amish group I think as have other furniture I love. Their soft close drawers and doors use something it looks like they make themselves…and it doesn't work. Then the delivery people lost the top so demanded a refund and bought something from Lowes.
It's lovely but needs finishing which I didn't realize. It took me two days to drag in from the outside, up the steps, across the porch, into the dining area, and then the kitchen, and THEN an hour to get it on top of the island. Should have left it of to finish but didn't know at the time. Pays to read the little papers they stuff int he box first!

NETFLIX SERIES
I watched The Night Agent and loved, loved, loved it! I especially loved that the female love interest was not one of those wimps that stood there and watched the men fight! So great!

Mosaic Afghan for Aryanna

 AFGHAN FOR ARYANNA

I took a heart from another chart and smoothed it out, then added the crosses to represent Jen's very deep and abiding Christianity.  Something she was able to share with her children and husband.

I have completed about 1/3 of the next panel which are snowflakes. The Poinsettia and Snowflakes remind me of her being born close to Christmas, and passing during on the first day of Winter. The hearts seem to me to be reminders of all the testimonials people had about what a wonderful friend, cousin, mom, wife, sister-in-law, daughter, etc. that she was. She led an amazing life and is missed by many.

SPRING FLOWERS

Well, well, well! It finally warmed up and I have some lovely bulb plants blooming! I'm super excited. I didn't know what Margie had planted while living here and it looks like she has a lot of tulips, too. I'm going to purchase some Iris and a few other plants to make the garden area come alive next Winter and Summer. I love a garden that blooms all year long. Luckily we have a rather well known garden center nearby, across the Snake River so I can probably find everything I need.

PLUMBING ISSUES

I had the soft water system from Culligan taken out. It was expensive, but they do delivery the salt pretty cheaply. However, it kept leaving a salt trail everywhere. I called their customer service representative, James Holt, to come and see what was making it do that. He kept putting me off, week after week, and not returning my calls. It was like a kid who did not turn in their homework because the "dog ate it." His excuses were just as lame. So I canceled.

I bought a Sterling system, which I think is actually made by Culligan, or they have some sort of relationship again. They were different companies at one time after the owners split up in 1936. At any rate, the system was ONE HALF of what Culligan charged, and is working like a charm. Customer service is great because it is a local pluming company, Treasure Valley Plumbing. Makes all the difference in the world. Great people!

Happy Throwback Thursday

Margie Little Wright, 1947 - 2022

Margie is on the left, and that's me on the right. This was taken somewhere in San Francisco right before (I think) she and my brother were married. She passed away suddenly last year in March, breaking the hearts of her entire family and loved ones. Her daughter is the one that passed away last year in December, making the loss of both women too much…..so it has been a hard year we were all glad to see behind us.
